Change Job EIB Fails Restriction Check on Additional Job Classifications
What it means
A Change Job EIB rejects a row with a generic restriction error naming Additional_Job_Classifications_Reference, even though the load is really just updating Job Profile, Position Title, or Business Title. The underlying cause is almost always a bad or stale reference ID sitting in that field's column of the spreadsheet, not a security or configuration issue.
Troubleshooting
- Open the failing row and check every reference ID present in the Additional Job Classifications column, not just the fields the load is meant to change, since Workday validates the full transaction, not only the touched fields.
- Confirm each reference ID still resolves to a valid, active Job Classification in the target tenant. IDs copied from a prior extract or a different tenant are a common source of this error.
- Process one of the failing rows manually through the Change Job business process in the UI, using the same reference values from the EIB row, to see exactly which value Workday rejects and why.
Remove or correct the invalid reference ID in the Additional Job Classifications column for the failing rows and rerun the load.
Validate every reference ID column against a fresh extract of active values before each Change Job EIB run, especially for optional or rarely-touched fields like Additional Job Classifications, since stale IDs there will block the whole transaction even when the field itself isn't being changed.
