EIB Load Fails: Spreadsheet Template Out of Date
The error The file does not match the current template version. Please regenerate the spreadsheet template and try again.
What it means
Someone is loading data with an old template. The EIB validates the uploaded file against its current web service version, and the columns no longer match - they've been added, removed, or reordered since the template was generated.
Troubleshooting
- Check when the template was generated versus when the EIB or its WWS version last changed.
- Generate a fresh template from the EIB (Actions > Generate Spreadsheet Template) and compare the headers with the file being loaded.
- Check that nobody edited the hidden sheets or header rows - the template carries metadata the loader validates against.
⚡ Quick fix
Regenerate the template from the EIB, paste the data into the new template matching columns carefully, and reload.
✓ Permanent fix
Treat the template as a versioned artifact. Store the current one centrally, regenerate and redistribute it whenever the EIB or WWS version changes, and retire old copies so nobody can load from a stale file.
