Hire EIB Rejects Location Due to Organization, Position, or Headcount Group Restriction
The error Validation error occurred. Location does not meet the restrictions for the proposed organization, position or headcount group.
What it means
The Hire EIB is loading a worker into a specific location, but that location is not allowed for the organization, position, or headcount group the hire is being assigned to. Workday's location restriction rules on the org or position block the load.
Troubleshooting
- Identify which of the three, supervisory organization, position, or headcount group, has a location restriction configured, check each one's Location Restrictions tab.
- Compare the location value in the EIB row against the allowed location list on the restricted object.
- If the position was created before the org's location restriction changed, the position may still be tied to a now-invalid location.
- Check headcount group restrictions separately, they can override what looks like a valid org/position combination.
⚡ Quick fix
Update the EIB row to use a location that is on the allowed list for the target organization, position, and headcount group, then reload just that row.
✓ Permanent fix
When location restrictions are added or changed on an organization or position, audit open positions and any in-flight EIB templates for that org so future hire loads use a currently valid location before submission.
